Tyler Coffman is the Assistant Professor of Low Brass at Louisiana Tech University. He held the position of Principal Trombone with the Las Colinas Symphony as well as the McKinney Philharmonic from 2022-2025. He has also performed with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, New World Symphony, Dallas Winds, Irving Symphony, Adrian Symphony, Southwest Florida Symphony, Ocala Symphony, and Tallahassee Symphony. Tyler’s ongoing research focuses on developing a comprehensive database of low brass compositions by Latin American composers, aiming to elevate the visibility and appreciation of these exceptional works. Formerly, Tyler has taught extensively in schools throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex with his students achieving high levels of success through various All Region and District bands.
Tyler is currently ABD in his DMA at the University of North Texas. Additionally, he holds degrees from the University of Michigan, Lynn University, and Florida State University. His primary teachers include Tony Baker, David Jackson, and Dan Satterwhite. When not teaching or performing, Tyler enjoys exploring local coffee shops, disc golfing and playing pickleball with friends.
